It must only bloom in the spring so I will be sure to go take a picture to show this one better.
Thanks for all the ideas.
And yes, it is beautiful when it is blooming those pretty yellow/orange blossoms.

Maybe....

Maybe a 'Pride of Barbados'? Good luck

Thanks Everyone

Thanks to all for helping me with this tree.
And deciduous Exbury Azalea... Gibralter variety is what it does look like.
I was going to go down and get another close up but I took a bad fall and have been laid up for almost 2 weeks. Better the last 2 days so I must be healing ok.
Thanks again !
I really appreciate it.

Deciduous azalea
by: Moni

After looking at the closeup I am even more convinced it is as Eileen suggested a standard of the deciduous Exbury Azalea... Gibralter variety.
I have not seen one grown into a standard (meaning one stem) before but that is what it sure looks like.

Perhaps you could take a current photo for all of us to see...up close to verify that it is an azalea.

I forgot to tell you this photo was taken June 1, 2008
The tree is only about 1 year old.

Close up of the flowering tree

Here is a close up and as soon as I can get down to the neighbor's house I will get an even better close up for everyone.

When did this bloom?
If you have a close up of the bloom, please submitt it, if not submitt a close up of the foliage as it currently looks...let us know date of photo.
Thanks all of that would be helpful.

axalea

Azalea for sure. however, the main stem's too long with no visible new offshoots. close up would have been better.

Azalea?
by: Janet

Sure looks like a deciduous azalea to me.

Exbury Azalea?
by: Eileen

It looks like a standard of Exbury Azalea, though it is hard to tell without seeing the blossom up close.

Tree Peony?
by: Cyndy Howard

Could this be a tree peony? They would be a good grower for Indiana and I hear they are deer resistant which would be a plus!

tree?

It looks like what my mother called a Rose of Sharon, sort of resembling a hibiscus.

Flowering Tree
by: Donna

Thanks you guys but it isn't either of those.
I messed up and should have posted a close up so everyone could see it better.
It sure is beautiful for sure.
