Yellowing of Rose Leaves

by Mary Ann
(Mooresville, IN)

Believe new rose still in 3 gal container was stressed by the lack of water - would this cause the leaves to turn yellow? Much of the very full bush has succumbed to this leaf yellowing.

Doug says that yes, if the plant was in a pot and was water-stressed then the leaves could reasonably expected to turn yellow on this rose plant.

Good rose plant care in containers really does depend on providing constant water (or at least regular waterings) to those plants.

Later in the season, we can also see black spot turn the rose leaves yellow and defoliate.
